Mets Get Rickrolled

The Mets were introduced to an internet phenomenon when they were Rickrolled. For those who are not familiar Rickrolling is when you send someone a link purporting to be something the reader would be interested in but instead it links to the music video for Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”. (For more on Rickrolling click here.) The gang at fark.com thought it would be funny if they Rickrolled the Mets poll that asked fans to pick the song for the 8th inning sing along at home games. It was a multiple choice question but allowed write in votes. Apparently more than 5 million people wrote in “Never Gonna Give You Up” and it will be the sing along today when the Mets open the home season against the Phillies.

The sing along schedule through the weekend looks like this:
Wednesday – Bon Jovi “Living on a Prayer”
Thursday – The Monkees “I’m a Believer”
Friday – Billy Joel “Movin’ Out”
Saturday – Neil Diamond “Sweet Caroline”
Sunday – The Foundations “Build Me Up Buttercup”
