The Toronto Blue Jays have released reliever Billy Koch. With pitching coach Rick Peterson having a good relationship with Koch from their days together with the Oakland A’s don’t be surprised if the Mets get mentioned in connection with Koch as he searches for a new team.

Billy Koch needs someone like Rick Peterson to calm him down, get his mechanics back in order, and make him believe he’s still a major-league pitcher. Given some confidence, Koch will perform better than many with secure relief positions on various clubs. I hope the Mets give him a chance.
