Feliciano Avoids Arbitration
According to reports Pedro Feliciano has agreed to a 1 year, $1.65 million contract and avoids arbitration. You’ve got to love it when guys with losing records get 50% raises.
Perez Signing Announced
In a press conference this afternoon the Mets officially announced the signing of Oliver Perez to a three year, $36 million contract. Now Mets fans can focus on fixating on Manny Ramirez, a signing I don’t think will happen and is not necessary for the Mets to be a winning team.
Heyman: Mets, Perez Agree On Terms
Jon Heyman is reporting that the Mets and Oliver Perez have agreed on a three-year, $36 million contract. The Mets have been targeting a starter and it’s unknown if they will continue to pursue one of the remaining free agents such as Ben Sheets. But with this signing the rotation is shaping up. Latest Signings
According to reports the Mets have agreed with John Maine on a contract worth $2.6 million to avoid arbitration. The Mets have also signed four players to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. They are outfielder Bobby Kielty, righthanders Tony Armas Jr. and Matt DeSalvo, and lefthander Valerio de los Santos.
Sullivan, Mackowiak Signed
The Mets signed some less heralded players last week to help fill out the roster. The two I haven’t reported on were Cory Sullivan and Rob Mackowiak. Mets Sign Garcia
The Mets signed pitcher Freddy Garcia to a minor league deal yesterday and invited him to spring training. Garcia’s name has come up several times over the last few years with regard to the Mets but an acquisition was never made for various reasons. This is a typical Omar Minaya signing. Minaya likes to stock […]

Sanchez Gets 128% Raise, Avoids Arbiration
According to reports the Mets have reached an agreement with Duaner Sanchez on a one year contract for $1,687,500 and avoids arbitration. The deal gives Sanchez a $950,000 raise. Sanchez faded down the stretch last year when it mattered most but in the crazy business of major league baseball he still merited a 128% increase. […]
Hello Alex, Goodbye Damion
The Mets signed infielder Alex Cora to a 1 year deal yesterday. Could this spell the end for Damion Easley? Easley is a free agent and though he played well for the Mets he’s really just a spare part. Why would the Mets sign another spare part if they didn’t intend to get rid of […]
Mets Introduce New Bullpen
The Mets introduced Francisco Rodriguez to the New York media yesterday and J.J. Putz today. Rodriguez was the premier free agent of this offseason and a very important signing. But what could be more more important is Putz and how he adjusts to being a setup man as opposed to the closer he was in […]
