Condolences to Schoeneweis
Life transcends baseball. And so does death. My heart goes out to Scott Schoeneweis and his family on the sudden passing of his wife. She was found in the master bedroom of the Schoeneweis house by their 14 year old daughter. The only thing sadder than a parent burying a child is a child discovering […]
Mets Make Splash at Winter Meetings
It’s been a while since I posted and with all the action that went down during the winter meeting in Las Vegas last week I figured it’s time to post an update. The biggest news of the week occurred in the bullpen where the Mets made a splash with a couple of bold moves on […]
In Game Notes
Gabe Kapler took Oliver Perez deep for 2 runs in the top of the first inning. David Wright got 1 of those runs back in the bottom of the first. The Brewers lead the Mets 2-1 after the first inning. The Brewers had runners on second and third with one out in the second but […]
Shea Opener A Bust
Can somebody please tell me why Scott Schoeneweis is still pitching for the Mets? He blew another game yesterday. It was his first loss of the year but since he’s been with the team he has gone 0-3 with a 5.04 ERA. The obvious answer is that he’s under contract. But for what team? The […]

Schoeneweis, Sosa On The Block
There are reports that the Mets are shopping Scott Schoeneweis and Jorge Sosa. I don’t think they can get very mush for these guys, especially Schoeneweis who is due to make $7.2 million over the next couple of years. I think Sosa is more tradeable because I think he’s a better pitcher who is in […]
Mitchell Report Is Out
The Mitchell report was released a little earlier this afternoon. Several names familiar to Mets fans were included. One of those names is Todd Hundley. While with the Mets in 1996, a break out 41 homer year for the former catcher, Hundley bought steroids from Kirk Radomski on at least 3 occasions. Hundley was a […]
Schoeneweis Off The Hook
Mets reliever Scott Schoeneweis avoided suspension yesterday when MLB announced that Jose Guillen and Jay Gibbons would be suspended for the first 15 days of the 2008 season for receiving shipments of human growth hormone (HGH). MLB decided that there was insufficient evidence to suspend Schoeneweis.
Schoeneweis May Be Suspended
According to an AP article Scott Schoeneweis and the other players implicated in the Albany County investigation into possession of banned substances. It looks like 2008 may be the second season in a row that the Mets start with a suspended reliever. (Last season started with a 50 game suspension for Guillermo Mota.)
