Don’t Pull Maine From Rotation Just Yet

After John Maine‘s bad outing the other night there was talk of Maine being pulled from the Mets starting rotation. Manager Jerry Manuel actually had to sleep on the decision before coming out yesterday to say that Maine would remain in the rotation. I’m trying to figure out what the big deal is about. Yes, […]

Mets May Be Sued Over Madoff Profit

Remember last winter when Jeff Wilpon said that Sterling Equities’ accounts with Bernie Madoff wouldn’t affect team operations? Remember how we all scoffed at the remark? Turns out Jeff was right! According to a report on Bloomberg Sterling Equities actually made money from Madoff. Apparently the Mets widthdrew $570.5 million from their Madoff account after […]

Thoughts About the Coaching Staff

Coaching is a part of the game that is hard for a fan to really understand than one may think. Pitching, hitting and third base coaches are a bit more visible than others since you can usually see the fruits of their labor in the teams stats. But unless you watch a team more closely […]

Last Night: Perez, Santana, Sheffield

Johan Santana had 5 days of rest between his last start and the first game after the all star break. But for some reason the Mets chose to start Oliver Perez in last night’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Perez actually pitched a decent game allowing 5 hits and 3 runs in 6 innings. He […]

Poll Results: What To Do With Ollie?

Last week’s poll question was: What’s the best move to make with Oliver Perez? 67% of you thought he should go to the minors. 25% thought he should go to the bullpen. 8% thought he should go on the DL. There’s a new poll up now: In light of his PED suspension should Manny Ramirez […]

Manny Suspended for PEDs

According to the L.A. Times Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games for use of performance enhancing drugs. Scott Boras, Ramirez’s agent, told ESPN’s Peter Gammons that Ramirez was taking a prescribed drug for a medical condition as opposed to steroids. There is no word as to what substance Ramirez was taking. […]

Perez to DL, Niese to Start

The Mets made an interesting roster move last night when they placed Oliver Perez on the 15 day disabled list after an MRI on Wednesday showed patella tendinitis in his ailing right knee. This helps the team tremendously as they can now send him to the minors under the guise of a rehab assignment as […]

Santana Amazes, Delgado Races

What an interesting game last night. Johan Santana was his regular, spectacular self allowing only two hits and striking out 10 with three walks over 7 innings. Santana lowered his ERA to 0.91. Opponents are batting .048 against him with runners in scoring position. But the Mets bats could not wake up, scoring only one […]
