Harper on What Mets Should Do

John Harper writes in today’s New York Daily News that the Mets need to do something bold this off season to wash the taste of collapse out of their mouths. Harper suggest signing Alex Rodriguez and trading Jose Reyes for Johan Santana.

ARod and the Mets?

There’s already been a lot of speculation on where Alex Rodriguez will end up now that it is a certainty that he will be on the open market. There are very strong rumors that have him going to the Los Angeles Dodgers along with Joe Torre and Don Mattingly. But here in New York it […]

Queens is Burning

What a crazy day yesterday was. Rick Down was fired as hitting coach. Rickey Henderson was added to the coaching staff but to an unannounced position. He may be hitting coach but so may Howard Johnson who filled the duty last night as Henderson couldn’t get to New York from Oakland in time for the […]

Down Out, Henderson In!

According to various reports Rickey Henderson has replaced Rick Down as the Mets hitting coach. The move was probably prompted by disappointing hitting performance this season especially by Carlos Delgado. Henderson has helped Jose Reyes tremendously the last couple of years. Let’s see if he can work his magic on some of the other players.

Say Hey!

Whatever happens in this All Star game it was nice to see Willie Mays in the opening ceremony. He threw out the first ball. It wasn’t a pitch. It was a throw from shallow center field to our very own Jose Reyes, who was standing on the infield dirt. (Reyes had the presence of mind […]

Congratulations All Stars

Congratulations to Carlos Beltran, David Wright, Jose Reyes and Billy Wagner on being selected to the National League All Star team.

Reyes Won’t Play This Winter

Mets shortstop Jose Reyes will not be playing in winter leagues this off season. This according to GM Omar Minaya. “Reyes is an important part of our team. That’s why the Mets organization decided that he will not play. We want to keep him healthy for the next season.” Wise move.

Wright Not Going Anywhere Either

The Mets announced that they have signed David Wright to a contract extension that will keep him with the team at least through the 2012 season with a club option for the 2013 season. This insures that the left side of the infield featuring Wright and Jose Reyes will be in Flushing together through the […]

Reyes: Player of the Week… Again

I don’t think my praise of Jose Reyes yesterday had anything to do with this but Reyes was named NL Player of the Week yesterday. It was the second week in a row he won the award. The first time he shared it with teammate David Wright. Ths time he gets it solo and it’s […]

Reyes is Also a Deity

A couple of weeks ago I praised David Wright. He’s been great all year and gets better every time I watch him. Now it’s Jose Reyes‘s turn. He had two consecutive 4 hit games this weekend, has had 4 hit games in 3 of the last 4 and has a 13 game hit streak going […]
