Mets Put an End To Arbitration Again
VÃctor Zambrano and Chris Woodward have both agreed to contracts bringing the total number of Mets eligible for arbitration down to zero. That’s a good way to go into spring training. Zambrano’s contract calls for him to make $3 million guaranteed. There are incentives involved but I noticed that an incentive to win the CY […]
Castro Agrees to 1-Year Deal
According to the AP the Mets and backup catcher Ramon Castro have agreed to a 1-year contract worth $800,000. This takes Castro off of the arbitration list. Still eligible for arbitration are VÃctor Zambrano and Chris Woodward. (Nice error on the linked page switching the positions of the arbitration eligible duo.)
Pedro Gets Rocked
Click here for a recap of last night’s game. Pedro Martinez suffered his worst outing of the year in last night’s 8-3 loss to the Padres. San Diego is leading the NL West but has an identical record to the Mets. They are one of the teams the Mets must play better against if they […]
Alfonso Soriano
With the production the Mets are getting at second base this year it’s no wonder they’ve come up as a possible landing point for former Yankee and current Texas Rangers second baseman Alfonso Soriano in recent trade rumors. The combination of Kazuo Matsui, Miguel Cairo, Chris Woodward, Marlon Anderson and whoever else the team has […]
Great Game
Click here for a recap of yesterday’s game. Everything worked for the Mets against the Phillies yesterday afternoon at Shea. Pedro Martinez pitches (6 IP, H, ER, 6 SO). Jose Reyes triples (his league leading 9th of the season). Chris Woodward gets 2 hits and knocks in 2 runs from the 8th hole in the […]
Off Day Transactions
Omar Minaya used the off day to make some moves. Nothing earth shattering but just enough to rattle the roster. The first of the moves was the release of veteran right handed reliver Mike DeJean. DeJean had allowed 36 hits and 18 walks in 25 2/3 innings this season. The nail in the coffin for […]
Wake Up, Doug Mientkiewicz
Doug Mientkiewicz is about to get a wakeup call. Brian Daubach was called up from AAA Norfolk to take Miguel Cairo‘s roster spot after Cairo was placed on the DL. Daubach is a first baseman and outfielder with some pop. Like Mientkiewicz, Daubach doesn’t hit for good average but he’s agressive and has a little […]
Robinson & Healy Getting It Wrong?
Click here for a recap of last night’s game. In the eighth inning of the game Willie Randolph made a double switch that took Doug Mientkiewicz out of the game and inserted pitcher Mike DeJean in his slot in the order while putting Chris Woodward in at first base to bat in the pitcher’s slot […]
