Mets Get Conine

With Damion Easley possibly done for the year and Carlos Delgado‘s status unknown the Mets traded two single A players to the Reds for Jeff Conine. The veteran Conine plays both corner outfield positions and first base. He has also played a little third base. Conine is a good addition. At 41 he’s close to […]

Mets Wounded Update

Ramon Castro was placed on the DL over the weekend for his arthritic back. With Paul Lo Duca already on the shelf the Mets now ‘boast’ a catching tandem of Mike DiFelice and Sandy Alomar Jr. Endy Chavez played in his fourth rehab game in St. Lucie last night. He said he is ready to […]

Injury Updates

With Paul Lo Duca already on the disabled list the Mets have been playing it safe with Ramon Castro. Castro is suffereing from arthritis in his back and while he has not be placed on the DL the team has been starting Mike DiFelice the last few games. Adding injury to injury Carlos Delgado left […]

Mets Get Castillo!

The Mets have been searching to improve their lineup by adding a more natural second place hitter as well as addressing their needs at second base. Yesterday they accomplished both. After negotiations for other second basemen (Mark Loretta, Mark Grudzielanek, Tadahito Iguchi, etc.) the Mets had a chance to acquire the Twins Luis Castillo. They […]

Down Out, Henderson In!

According to various reports Rickey Henderson has replaced Rick Down as the Mets hitting coach. The move was probably prompted by disappointing hitting performance this season especially by Carlos Delgado. Henderson has helped Jose Reyes tremendously the last couple of years. Let’s see if he can work his magic on some of the other players.

Opening Night Success

Click here for a recap of last night’s game. Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado celebrated fatherhood in high style last night. Delgado, who became father to a baby boy last week, smacked a two run double in the third inning to give Tom Glavine his first win of the season and number 291 of his […]

Sour Grapes for Pujols

One down, 3 more to go. My favorite part of lasts nights 2-0 Mets win was when Carlos Beltran fired the ball to Carlos Delgado at first base after catching the ball in center field to double up Albert Pujols who made the baserunning error of moving too far away from the bag. Pujols was […]

Mostly Good News For Mets Yesterday

It was a big day for the Mets yesterday. First they learned Tom Glavine will not need surgery. Then they pulled off a comeback win. Then they finally acquired Shawn Green.

Wright is a Deity

The more I see of David Wright the more I like him. Wright is quickly ascending the ladder to sainthood in my mind. His game last night added some brownie points in his favor. I turned on the game in the third inning and watched as Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado homered to give the […]

So Long, Kaz

On Friday I mentioned a report by Ken Rosenthal at Foxsports.com about the possibility that the Mets would trade Kazuo Matsui to the Colorado Rockies for Eli Marrero. On Staurday morning I opened up the newspaper to see that Ken’s report was spot on.
