Blog Update
I spent some time this morning updating some of the plugins on this blog to newer versions. The updates should be mostly transparent to readers. But as with all updates I ask that you let me know if you see anything strange.

Banny’s Hammy
Brian Bannister‘s MRI yesterday showed a grade 1 hamstring straing. He is being listed as day-to-day. The DL hasn’t been ruled out but I expect him to miss a start and be replaced by Darren Oliver. If he goes on the DL then I think it’ll be either Jose Lima or John Maine. If I have my math right Maine is on track to pitch the same day Bannister’s turn comes up in the rotation so I’d give him the edge.

Mets Win in 11
It was the kind of game I’ve talked about on MostlyMets many times before. A character builder. A game where one event happens that deflates you but instead of folding you rise to the occassion and show the opponent who’s boss.

Alou Plays Savior For Giants
My hatred of west coast night games has been discussed before so I won’t get into it now besides to say I hate them. Now that I got that out of the way…

I’m Back!
Judging from my email inbox it looks like I chose a bad time to take a vacation. I got back Friday afternoon and I’m still not caught up on my new emails. Hopefully I’ll get that done by the end of today. While I was gone the Mets managed to put up an impressive 12-6 record and go 3 games up on Atlanta to get off to a good start. I’m hoping to post more regularly now that a very busy period of work and a nice long vacation is behind me so please stay tuned.

Gooden Sentenced to a Year
It looks like Dwight Gooden will not be able to revel with his former 1986 world champion teammates this summer as the club celebrates the 20th anniversary of the best team they ever had. Gooden was sentenced to one year (and one day) in prison for violating the terms of his probation on a traffic charge by using cocaine.
