The Mets Lost Weekend (and other stories)
The Mets suffered a 3 game sweep at the hands of the Pirates this week and there really weren’t many positives to walk away with. A bright spot was Tom Glavine pitching 7 innings of 1 hit ball on Friday night but then he was removed with tightness in his shoulder. Steve Trachsel also had […]
Today’s Mets Rant
Not much going on in Mets land today. The Mets beat Atlanta last night on strong pitching from Al Leiter and a trio of relievers. Leiter also starred at the plate hitting a double down the alley in right center field. Shane Spencer knocked in 2 runs and is off to a nice start. I […]
Tyler Yates
Tyler Yates got his butt kicked by the Braves last night. Welcome to the majors, kid. I don’t know what to think of this guy yet. It’s hard to tell by just two starts. Let him get a few more starts under his belt before calling for his demotion.
Roger Cedeno Traded
The Mets finally got a taker on Roger Cedeno and completed a trade with St. Louis. Cedeno was a sensation when he first came up for the Mets but his second term with the club just didn’t pan out. The separation is best for the Mets and Cedeno. I wish him luck.
Latest On Reyes
Jose Reyes will start the season on the DL. It’ll be retroactive so that he will only miss a few games. I don’t think anyone is surprised.
Mets Talk About Acquiring Milton Bradley
The Mets are supposedly interested in acquiring OF Milton Bradley who was banned from Cleveland Indians camp the other day. He was banned because he left camp. Why did he leave camp? He was upset that he had been pulled from a game for not running out a fly ball. Why was he upset? Who […]
Reports Say Reyes Improves
I’ve been reading reports that say Jose Reyes condition is improving. I’ll believe is when I see it. Every day the story changes. Hamstrings are unpredictable that way. The thing that really scares me is that they say the hamstring injury is probably an indication of something else that is wrong (likely a hip problem). […]
Reyes Hurts Hammy Again
Jose Reyes cut short a batting practice session yesterday after tweaking his already injured hamstring. There’s talk that he may start the season on the disabled list. Looks like it’s going to be a long, heartbreaking season again this year.
Mets Trade For Gutierrez
The Mets acquired infielder Ricky Gutierrez from the Cleveland Indians yesterday to serve as an experienced backup in case the Jose Reyes/Kaz Matsui experiment goes awry. Not a bad idea considering both were hurt in spring training with Reyes still not back from a hamstring injury. I’m a little jaded about Reyes durability right now […]
Mets Trade Timo Perez
The Mets traded Timo Perez to the White Sox for RHP Matt Ginter. The Mets outfield needs as much help as it can get but the time was right to trade Perez. I would rather them have traded Roger Cedeno but Cedeno’s contract is prohibitive. As for Perez he hasn’t done much since 2000 when […]
