ARod Regrets 24+1

In today’s New York Daily News John harper writes about Alex Rodriguez and his decision to go to Texas for $252 million in 2000 instead of coming to play for the Mets. Though ARod has regrets about not playing for the Mets I can say that I do not. I agreed with the 24+1 idea […]

Mets Notes

Fernando Martinez was re-assigned to minor league camp yesterday along with Tony Armas Jr., who actually just arrived in camp the other day because of visa problems. John Maine struck out 7 in 5 innings yesterday. It’s becoming more apparent that Duaner Sanchez is running out of time to prove himself and may, indeed, start […]

Notes From An Off Day

The diagnosis on Jason Vargas‘s hip is a torn labrum. He’ll have surgery on Monday. Ruddy Lugo was optioned to AAA. Carlos Delgado is day to day after receiving stitches in his right forearm. Delgado was struck by the barrel of a broken bat during Sunday’s game. There is growing concern about Duaner Sanchez‘s rehab […]

Notes From Yesterday

Carlos Beltran played center field for the first time this spring. After the game he admitted that he’s not up to playing the field for 9 innings. Beltran also spoke about the joys of fatherhood. Mike Pelfrey pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits. It wasn’t his best outing but […]

Philadelphians Are Ugly

Travel & Leisure magazine recently published their America’s Favorite Cities survey and found something that Mets fans have suspected for a few years already. Philadelphians are the least attractive people. I’m not making this up. You can look it up. According to an article by Reuters “The city of more than 1.5 million people was […]

Moises Alou Hitting In Top Form

What has gotten into Moises Alou? He has a 7 game hit streak going through last night’s game and has hit in 12 of last 15. In the last 3 games he has 7 hits, 3 home runs and 9 RBIs. Last night he even stole a base. Since coming off of the disabled list […]

Queens is Burning

What a crazy day yesterday was. Rick Down was fired as hitting coach. Rickey Henderson was added to the coaching staff but to an unannounced position. He may be hitting coach but so may Howard Johnson who filled the duty last night as Henderson couldn’t get to New York from Oakland in time for the […]

Pelfrey Out, Gómez In

The Mets finally demoted Mike Pelfrey yesterday. The move was made to make room on the roster for highly touted rookie outfield prospect Carlos Gomez who was brought in as outfield insurance after Moises Alou pulled a quad on Saturday. Though no decision was immediately made it looks like Alou is headed to the DL […]

Easley Plays Long Ball

The Mets offense got a boost from an unlikely source yesterday when Damion Easley hit a 3 run homer off of Arizona closer Jose Valverde to cap a Mets rally in the ninth and give New York a 9-4 victory over the Diamondbacks in the opener of a four game weekend series. David Wright also […]

Reyes Won’t Play This Winter

Mets shortstop Jose Reyes will not be playing in winter leagues this off season. This according to GM Omar Minaya. “Reyes is an important part of our team. That’s why the Mets organization decided that he will not play. We want to keep him healthy for the next season.” Wise move.
