Say Hey!
Whatever happens in this All Star game it was nice to see Willie Mays in the opening ceremony. He threw out the first ball. It wasn’t a pitch. It was a throw from shallow center field to our very own Jose Reyes, who was standing on the infield dirt. (Reyes had the presence of mind […]
R.I.P. Cory Lidle
By now anyone reading this knows about the incident in which former Mets and ‘current’ Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle was killed. The story has been all over the news in the last 24 plus hours. Nobody would confuse Lidle with Thurman Munson, the Yankees catcher and captain who lost his life in a place crash […]
Foul Ball Hits Wife
I saw a story today that was totally unrelated to the Mets but was just too good to let go by without comment. Baltimore Orioles oufielder Jay Gibbons came up to bat in the ninth inning with one out and proceeded to foul a pitch straight back behind the plate that cleared the screen and […]
“I’m Sorry” Baseballs to be Auctioned
Pete Rose has autographed baseballs with the inscription “I’m sorry I bet on baseball”. The 30 balls will go up for auction in April 2007. They are sure to fetch a good ammount of money but the inscription is incorrect. Rose is not at all sorry that he bet on baseball. He’s only sorry that […]
Reyes: Player of the Week… Again

Wright & Reyes: Players of the Week
David Wright and Jose Reyes were announced co-winners of NL Player of the week honors for the week of June 11-18. It seems like only a week ago that I wrote about Carlos Beltran winning NL Player of the Week honors. Oh, yeah. It was.

David Wright has taken the lead in fan balloting over Scott Rolen by 17,000 votes. He had trailed Rolen by as many as 34,000 votes. Othe Mets on track to get into the game based on fan voting are Paul Lo Duca, who leads Mike Piazza by 100,000 votes, and Carlos Beltran, who has about […]
Beltran Named NL Player of the Week
Carlos Beltran‘s .483 AVG. (14-for-29) with 12 RBI, 13 runs and five stolen bases earned him NL player of the week honors for the week of June 5-11. The Mets were 6-1 in that span.
Grimsley Suspended
If there was any doubt about Jason Grimsley‘s future in the major leagues it was wiped out today. Grimsley has been suspended from baseball for 50 games. The suspension will take affect upon Grimsley being added to a team’s 40-man roster. Grimsley’s numbers were not very good this year even with the HGH he was […]
