Mets in the News
Pedro Milestone
Pedro Martinez made his return a victorious one yesterday. He also recorded his 3000th career strikeout. Congratulations Pedro!
Last Week’s Missed Events
Looks like I took the wrong week to miss posting to the blog. Last Sunday, August 5, Tom Glavine won the 300th game of his career. Glavine allowed 6 hist and 2 earned runs in 6.1 innings en route to an 8-3 Mets victory. Two days later Barry Bonds hit his 756th career home run […]
R.I.P. Bill Robinson
I was saddened to hear the news that Bill Robinson died over the weekend. Robinson was Davey Johnson’s hitting coach in 1986. He was also the hitting coach on the world champion Florida Marlins squad in 2003 and played outfield for the 1979 world champion Pittsburgh Pirates. He spent the last couple of years as […]
Hitting Coach HoJo

Queens is Burning
What a crazy day yesterday was. Rick Down was fired as hitting coach. Rickey Henderson was added to the coaching staff but to an unannounced position. He may be hitting coach but so may Howard Johnson who filled the duty last night as Henderson couldn’t get to New York from Oakland in time for the […]

What isn’t given is who Milledge will replace on the roster. It was previously reported in many venues that either David Newhan or Sandy Alomar Jr. would be sent down […]
Down Out, Henderson In!
According to various reports Rickey Henderson has replaced Rick Down as the Mets hitting coach. The move was probably prompted by disappointing hitting performance this season especially by Carlos Delgado. Henderson has helped Jose Reyes tremendously the last couple of years. Let’s see if he can work his magic on some of the other players.
Congratulations All Stars
Congratulations to Carlos Beltran, David Wright, Jose Reyes and Billy Wagner on being selected to the National League All Star team.
Mazzilli Traded for Darling & Terrell: 25 Years Later
Jamey Newberg writes about the Texas Rangers perspective of the 1982 trade that sent Lee Mazzilli from the Mets to the Rangers in exchange for Ron Darling and Walt Terrell.
Milledge Matures
In today’s New York Post Kevin Kernan writes about the progress Lastings Milledge is making regarding the character issues that plagued him as a rookie last season. Milledge certainly seems to be talking the talk about maturing and adjusting. But it was nice to see John Delcos of the Journal News cite in his LoHud […]
