Opening Night Success

Click here for a recap of last night’s game. Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado celebrated fatherhood in high style last night. Delgado, who became father to a baby boy last week, smacked a two run double in the third inning to give Tom Glavine his first win of the season and number 291 of his […]

Mets Strike Out Looking

The whole season came down to this. Down by two runs with two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning of game 7 and the bases were loaded. Who came to the plate? None other than the $119 million man: Carlos Beltran. When the Mets signed Beltran to that huge contract before the 2005 […]

Sour Grapes for Pujols

One down, 3 more to go. My favorite part of lasts nights 2-0 Mets win was when Carlos Beltran fired the ball to Carlos Delgado at first base after catching the ball in center field to double up Albert Pujols who made the baserunning error of moving too far away from the bag. Pujols was […]

Mostly Good News For Mets Yesterday

It was a big day for the Mets yesterday. First they learned Tom Glavine will not need surgery. Then they pulled off a comeback win. Then they finally acquired Shawn Green.

Wright is a Deity

The more I see of David Wright the more I like him. Wright is quickly ascending the ladder to sainthood in my mind. His game last night added some brownie points in his favor. I turned on the game in the third inning and watched as Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado homered to give the […]

El Duque Lives!

I was talking to a friend a few couple of ago about the Mets acquisition of Orlando Hernandez. My friend was not happy with the trade. He thpought the Mets could do better. He insisted that El Duque was washed up and not worth it. My response was a threefold argument which was as follows:

Soler Registers First Win

Congratulations to Alay Soler on his first major league win last night as the Mets beat the Dodgers 4-1. In 7 innings pitched last night Soler surrendered six hits while striking out seven and walking one. Good work.

Maine Flops

John Maine made his start last night and had me wishing he and Jorge Julio were not traded to the Mets for Kris Benson. That’s a pretty harsh statement but last night’s game really stunk.

Victor-y Is Ours

Víctor Zambrano had his best start of the young season yesterday. Not that the bar was set so high but his 6 inning, 5 hit and 1 run performance last night would have been a good start for anyone.

Mets Win in 11

It was the kind of game I’ve talked about on MostlyMets many times before. A character builder. A game where one event happens that deflates you but instead of folding you rise to the occassion and show the opponent who’s boss.
