Bullpen Blows 300
The bullpen blew the game last night so Tom Glavine will have to wait another few days before trying for win number 300 again. Though the bullpen blew the game the offense must take some of the blame too. They simply must score more runs before they can be taken seriously as a championship contender.
Trade Deadline Looming
Carlos Beltran is hurting and may be put on the disabled list due to a strained oblique he hurt during batting practice last week. Paul Lo Duca is bothered by a strained hamstring. The team recalled Mike DiFelice from AAA New Orleans as a third catcher in case they need one . (Sandy Alomar Jr. […]
This Is Your Home Run King… Almost
I saw this in today’s New York Post. I was trying to come up with my own caption for this one but it says it all without any further comment. Cartoon By Michael Ramirez © Copyright 2007 Investor's Business Daily. All Rights Reserved.
Heed My Warning
After winning 3 out of the first four coming back from the All Star break the Mets have now dropped 2 out of the last 3 heading into a weekend series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Teams like the Padres and Dodgers are teams that the Mets need to play better against. While you […]
Milledge Dramatics
Since being promoted from the minors on Thursday Lastings Milledge has been in the middle of some big plays while not really being all that hot. He’s only batting .250 in three games since his recall but he has managed to score a winning run with a crazy slide to the plate (Thursday), hit a […]
ESPN is Burning
I was tuning into ESPN the other night to catch the first part of the 8 hour miniseries about the Yankees 1977 season “The Bronx is Burning”. I know I ranked on the New York Post recently for running boxscores and game recaps of ’77 Yankees games but this series looked like it may be […]
It’s OK to Hate Bonds, Just Hate Him for the Right Reasons
In this morning’s New York Post Mike Vaccaro discusses the hypocrisy about to be experienced at Shea when fans cheer for Guillermo Mota, returning from a 50 game steroids suspension, and boo for Barry Bonds, who has never failed a steroids test. This is a point that I’ve talked about a lot. As much as […]
Yankees (& Fans) Are Down
With the attention that Mike Francesa gives the Yankees and how he seemingly dreads saying anything positive about the Mets they should change the name of his Sunday night show on channel 4 from Mike’d Up to Yank’ed Up. (Giving credit where it’s due Mike’d Up is a clever name for a sports show.) Did […]
Clemens and the Yankees
The Yankees certainly have a flair for the dramatic. Roger Clemens announced yesterday from the owners box at Yankee Stadium that he will be returning to pitch for the Yankees. You can’t get much more dramatic than that when it comes to a signing. And when the player is as big as Clemens then why […]
Pelfrey In Trouble?
It’s a little early to speculate but it’s possible that Mike Pelfrey‘s spot in the rotation could be lost to Jorge Sosa once Orlando Hernandez comes back from the disabled list. After a positive outing against Florida last week Pelfrey turned in another poor performance yesterday against Arizona. The Diamondbacks only managed 3 hits against […]
