Get Back
I’ve been busy with my real job a bit lately so I haven’t had much chance to write here. I plan on getting back into it with this series against Philadelphia starting tonight so I’ll see y’all back here very soon.
Mets Lousy With Runners On Base
What’s wrong with the Mets offense? They’re not having much trouble getting on base as their .271 AVG., .337 OBP and .458 SLG with none on (ranked 8th, 9th and 6th respectively). Though these numbers aren’t great they are in the top third of the league which should be goog enough to get things going. […]
Pujols vs. Bonds
When Albert Pujols hit his 18th homer of the season yeaterday he became the second fastest to hit that mark. (The fastest guy did it in 1923.) This got me thinking about Barry Bonds.
Heilman Throws One Away
Yesterday the Mets announced that the starting rotation for the Milwaukee series this weekend will be Jeremi Gonzalez, Jose Lima and Pedro Martinez. One has to wonder if that affected Aaron Heilman‘s performance last night.
Quote of the Day
“We have to go in there and bring our ‘A’ game. This was a big series. This was a hyped-up series. I think it is good that we have an off day so we can get mentally prepared for Philly. They have played great baseball. We have to continue to go in there and continue […]
Wagner Going To Enemy Territory
Things are getting ugly between Mets closer Billy Wagner and his former teammates in Philadelphia. Apparently his ex-mates didn’t take too kindly to Wagner, while pitching for the Phillies last season, saying in an interview that the Phils weren’t playoff material. You can read more on this story here. The sparks will be flying when […]
Weekend Notes
It was definitley an interesting weekend for the Mets. The VÃctor Zambrano incident on Friday, John Maine‘s visit to the DL and a renegade umpire in the weekend finally against the Braves. Renegade umpire?
Zambran Oh No!
In the second inning of yesterday’s game VÃctor Zambrano was visited on the mound by manager Willie Randolph. Randolph asked the hurler how he was feeling. Zambrano replied that he was fine. Randolph left the mound and let Zambrano continue pitching. The next two pitches would be Zambrano’s last of the year.
Maine Flops
John Maine made his start last night and had me wishing he and Jorge Julio were not traded to the Mets for Kris Benson. That’s a pretty harsh statement but last night’s game really stunk.
Victor-y Is Ours
VÃctor Zambrano had his best start of the young season yesterday. Not that the bar was set so high but his 6 inning, 5 hit and 1 run performance last night would have been a good start for anyone.
