The Mets second base position got slightly clearer today as Bret Boone announced his retirement. Boone was signed to a minor league contract and was in Mets camp as a non roster invitee to challenge for the second base position against incumbant Kazuo Matsui and other challengers Anderson Hernandez & Jeff Keppinger.
