A No-No?? No!
Click here for a recap of last night’s game.
Denied again. Going into the 7th inning last night it looked like Pedro Martinez might do what no other Mets pitcher has ever done: throw a no hitter. But then Chris Burke came to bat and there went that. Pedro ended up having to settle with a 2 hitter (Lance Berkman got the other one) as the Mets beat the Astros 3-1.
Cliff Floyd got hot when he was hit by Astros starter Roy Oswalt in the seventh inning. Floyd gave Oswalt a tongue lashing but exercised restraint by not charging the mound. Floyd would later say he believed that Oswalt git him on purpose. Floyd’s belief dates back to last year when he hit a grand slam off Oswalt and Oswalt retaliated in a later game by throwing at Floyd. Floyd also had 2 hits against Oswalt last night and has enjoyed a .385 average against Oswalt (in 13 at bats).
But the star of the game was obviously Pedro who also struck out 12 batters to go above the 100 k mark on the season. He leads the majors with 104 this year.
