Doug Mientkiewicz for President

Doug Mientkiewicz came up big again with a game winning home run. He’s now hit as many home runs in the first 33 games of the season (6) as he hit in all of last season. I don’t think anyone expects him to continue to rip the ball like this but let’s enjoy it while it lasts. I think he’ll end up with about 15 on the year. Mientkiewicz has turned out to be a great addition to this team with his defense, timely hitting and leadership ability.
Mike Piazza continued his hot hitting in the victory over the Cubs as well. Piazza hit a 3 run homer in the first and knocked in an insurance run in the ninth. The homer tied him with Harold Baines for 48th on the all time list. Congratulations, Mike!
