Delgado’s Absence A Big Issue

There still appears to be no timetable for the return of first baseman Carlos Delgado, out since May 10 with a hip injury. Delgado appeared in 26 games this season before being placed on the disabled list and though he had only 4 home runs he was the Mets only legitimate power threat. Delgado’s line […]

Delgado Out 10 Weeks; Mets Out For Season?

Carlos Delgado‘s surgery went well and he’s expected to return to action in about 10 weeks. That would be the end of July. Will the Mets still be in the race by then? Probably not with their current solution in place at first base. The tag team of Fernando Tatis and Jeremy Reed would be […]

Poll Results: What To Do With Ollie?

Last week’s poll question was: What’s the best move to make with Oliver Perez? 67% of you thought he should go to the minors. 25% thought he should go to the bullpen. 8% thought he should go on the DL. There’s a new poll up now: In light of his PED suspension should Manny Ramirez […]

Manny Suspended for PEDs

According to the L.A. Times Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games for use of performance enhancing drugs. Scott Boras, Ramirez’s agent, told ESPN’s Peter Gammons that Ramirez was taking a prescribed drug for a medical condition as opposed to steroids. There is no word as to what substance Ramirez was taking. […]

Perez Signing Announced

In a press conference this afternoon the Mets officially announced the signing of Oliver Perez to a three year, $36 million contract. Now Mets fans can focus on fixating on Manny Ramirez, a signing I don’t think will happen and is not necessary for the Mets to be a winning team.

Long Live George Steinbrenner!

Though control of the Yankees has been turned over to his son the legacy of George Steinbrenner lives on. Yesterday the team signed first baseman Mark Teixeira to an 8 year, $180 million contract. This comes on the heals of signing CC Sabathia for 7 years at $161 million and A.J. Burnett for 5 years […]

Slow Time for Mets

Not much happenning in Mets land these days. Lots of rumors (mostly centering on Manny Ramírez and Danys Baez) but no real news.

Wagner’s a Met!

The Mets closed out Thanksgiving weekend by giving their fans something to be thankful for. For the second year in a row the Mets have landed the most sought after free agent on the market. Last year it was Pedro Martinez and Carlos Beltran. This year it’s Billy Wagner. The team will hold a press […]

Congratulations… Not!

The Mets beat the Astros yesterday 9-4 ending the ‘Stros 7 game win streak. Pardon my cynicism but bug deal. They score 4 runs in the first 3 games in a hitters park and I’m supposed to congratulate them for scoring 9 runs in the fourth game? I don’t think so. On the plus side […]
