In Game Notes

Gabe Kapler took Oliver Perez deep for 2 runs in the top of the first inning. David Wright got 1 of those runs back in the bottom of the first. The Brewers lead the Mets 2-1 after the first inning. The Brewers had runners on second and third with one out in the second but […]

Schoeneweis, Sosa On The Block

There are reports that the Mets are shopping Scott Schoeneweis and Jorge Sosa. I don’t think they can get very mush for these guys, especially Schoeneweis who is due to make $7.2 million over the next couple of years. I think Sosa is more tradeable because I think he’s a better pitcher who is in […]

Feliciano and Sosa Signed

The Mets avoided going to arbitration with two of the four remaining arbitration eligible players on the roster. Pedro Feliciano signed for one year at $1.025 million and Jorge Sosa signed for one year at $2 million. The two remaining Mets that are arbitration eligible are Ryan Church and Oliver Perez.

Chavez Signed

The Mets have agreed to a new contract with Endy Chavez. The deal is for 2 years at $3.85 million. The four remaining Mets that are arbitration eligible are Ryan Church, Pedro Feliciano, Oliver Perez and Jorge Sosa

Arbitration Update

On Friday the Mets came to terms with Aaron Heilman on a one-year contract worth $1.2 million avoiding arbitration. That makes two arbitration eligible player signed (Duaner Sanchez is the other), five more to go. The team has exchanged numbers with the other five players (Endy Chavez, Ryan Church, Pedro Feliciano, Oliver Perez, Jorge Sosa). […]

Johnny, We Hardly Knew Ye

As expected the Mets non tendered Johnny Estrada yesterday. I’m not so sure that was the right move. But this officially makes the move of Guillermo Mota complete. The Mets essentially moved Mota and his salary to Milwaukee for nothing. Other Mets who were non tendered are Juan Padilla and Ben Johnson. The Mets did […]

Pelfrey In Trouble?

It’s a little early to speculate but it’s possible that Mike Pelfrey‘s spot in the rotation could be lost to Jorge Sosa once Orlando Hernandez comes back from the disabled list. After a positive outing against Florida last week Pelfrey turned in another poor performance yesterday against Arizona. The Diamondbacks only managed 3 hits against […]

Easley Plays Long Ball

The Mets offense got a boost from an unlikely source yesterday when Damion Easley hit a 3 run homer off of Arizona closer Jose Valverde to cap a Mets rally in the ninth and give New York a 9-4 victory over the Diamondbacks in the opener of a four game weekend series. David Wright also […]
