Book Review: Darling’s The Complete Game

When I first started to be a Mets fan in the late seventies the team sucked. As I grew into my teens the organization was acquiring the talent that would lead to 1986 world series champions. Just as I was getting more heavily into my fandom players like Keith Hernandez and George Foster were being […]

Mets Entries in the 50 Greatest NLCS Moments

Over on ESPN.com they have posted their 50 greatest moments in LCS history. The Mets are represented nicely. Number 50 is Gary Carter’s home run in game 5 in 1986. Number 34 is Endy Chavez‘s stealing a home run from Scott Rolen in game 7 in 2006. Number 32 is the infamous Bud Harrelson vs. […]

Maine Can Hit Too

The Post Rubs It In Williams’ Face

Although I quoted from the New York Times in yesterday’s game comments in reference to people blaming Gerald Williams for losing the no-hotter for Pedro Martinez it seems like the New York Post has decided to get in on the action. In this morning’s paper the Post features a picture of Williams saving Dwight Gooden’s […]

The country met him through a much celebrated Sports Illustrated article by George Plimpton titled “The Curious Case of Sidd Finch”. The story spawned a book of the same name. In today’s New York Times, Alan […]
