Are you actually comparing RA Dickey to Bobby Bonilla? Dickey has succeeded in New York, Bonilla did not. Dickey is at his peak now. And honestly has been consistent for 3 years. He is not a risk in that respect. There are compelling arguments to both signing and trading him: Signing him is signing a proven player who does not wilt under pressure and strengthens the strength of the team. Trading him: Allows the team to (with smart scouting) add pieces that could become valuable down the line and at a time when the Mets have a better chance to succeed than they will throughout the remainder of Dickey's likely career expectancy. I would make a substantial offer, but I would not break the bank for him. (Not that the Mets ever do).

Jon Rauch is becoming a journeyman pitcher in the bullpen. Good pitching is what this team needs because when you have that, you've always got a shot. Fill in the defensive side with AAA talent but give the Mets great starting pitching and a great bullpen.

Sanchez will stay the QB in new york. They've already invested three years in him in which he has led them deep into the playoffs twice and the team barely missed the playoffs this season. He's still young, not elite, but good QBs are hard to come by in this league.

I still say wait till the last day of spring training to cut him. On the other hand, we do not need Luis Castillo that is obvious, all 3 others vying for the job are serviceable. Daniel Murphy at this point would have to be futile in the field. He has the most pow and power. Justin Turner is impressive but has options so will start in Buffalo. Brad Emaus is a Rule 5 so they have to decide if he is worth the roster spot. Rubin Tejada is a terrific fielder but his bat is Luis Castillo light (if that's possible). They should not rush him...start him in Binghamton and let him play every day. Otherwise he will never develop. So I say Murphy is your starter and hopefully Emaus is your backup but they need to play him more in the spring to figure if he is major league ready.
