Figueroa To Rejoin Team
Pedro Martinez landed in New York at about 3:30 this afternoon and the results of his MRI are not yet known. However the Mets have already recalled Nelson Figueroa from AAA New Orleans. Since Pedro has not been placed on the DL I’m unclear if anyone has been removed from the roster. In all probability Figueroa will not be added to the roster until the day he is needed. By then it’ll be clear whether Pedro will be placed on the DL or someone else will need to be removed to make room.
Dan Graziano at NJ.Com Mets Main Blog has another theory on Figueroa. Graziano just thinks the Mets wanted to have another reliever on hand since the bullpen has been used liberally in the first two games. That’s a possibility but that means someone will have to be moved by game time. We’ll know for sure in a couple of hours.
