Let’s Get It On

The time for talk is over. Today the speculation ends. It’s time for the 2006 season to begin. In just a few hours the Mets will take the field against the Nationals to start the season.

The only real surprise over the weekend heading into the season was Darren Oliver making the team in place of Pedro Feliciano. The move was made to accomodate for the injury to Víctor Zambrano over the weekend. With the status of Zambrano’s hamstring not totally known it was decided to keep Oliver in case more innings are needed. (Oliver has more experience than Feliciano.) Zambrano’s first start has been pushed back a few days and Brian Bannister will start in his stead on Wednesday.
