Spring Training Notes
Thinsg are mostly quiet around Mets camp. There’s mostly just the usual spring training fair going on. Exhibition games. Players getting into shape. The continuing story of Pedro Martinez‘s preperation for this season with his bad toe and new shoes. There’s not really very much to talk about beyond the following 2 points:
- Tom Glavine was told by pitching coach Rick Peterson (who i used to love but now I’m indifferent about) that he should prepare for the possibility of starting on opening day if Pedro isn’t ready.
- Cliff Floyd is awaiting results of tests taken on his kidneys after an ‘abnormality’ was found in his urine. The test were mostly precautionary since Floyd’s father had a kidney transplant after his failed. But this begs the question: how do you find an abnormality in someone’s urine? Did Willie Randolph poke his head over the urinal divider and say “Hey, Cliff, your urine is abnormal”?
