Pitchers and catchers officially report today but yesterday Pedro Martinez‘s specially designed Nike finally reported.
The shoe is described as a black hightop with ornage and blue trim. Pedro said it isn’t perfect but it’s better than what he’s hat to deal with until now. He anticipates only minor adjustments would need to be made to the shoe to make it work for him. One criticism he had of the shoe was that there is a cleat right under the troublesome toe. Great move, Nike. The guy orders a special shoe for a toe that was injured in no small part to a cleat positioned right under it and you go ahead and put the cleat right there in harms way. Gotta love it. Anyway, Pedro actually played catch yesterday and will continue to play catchup over spring training to prepare for the season. It’ll be interesting to see how he feels in the next week or so because that will probably determine if he plays in the World Baseball Classic or not.
