Piazza Injured

Mike Piazza was hit by a foul ball in the top of the first and was out of the game when his turn came up in the batting order at the bottom of the inning. Ramon Castro replaced him and hit a double (his first extra base hit of the season) in the bottom of the first to knock in the only Mets run of the game. X-rays on Piazza’s left wrist were negative and he’s been diagnosed with a contusion on the wrist but I haven’t seen any follow up notes on his condition or how the Mets plan to work around it. They have Mike DiFelice at Norfolk and could bring him should Piazza need to go on the DL or if they choose to go with 3 catchers. I’m thinking that both of those scenarios are unlikely and that Piazza will be rested a few days with Castro starting and that Piazza will be back in the starting lineup soon. I’ll keep you posted.
